Every day a disturbing figure of 25 000 people both children and adult die of starvation. Among these, 18,000 children say bye bye to this world due to lack of food to put in their stomachs.
By the way, the world produces enough food that can feed each and everyone. Then, what is the problem? Why are children dying of starvation at this era? Is it the governments to blame? is it the developed countries to blame? or is it that the starving people are lazy?
What do you think should be done to reduce the number of people succumbing to starvation or completely ensure no kid dies due to lack of food?

Actually those are really disturbing figures in a world of hardworking human beings. But why is it that 25% of food produced goes into waste due to poor post harvest handling? Why should the authorities spend all the money subsidising seeds and fertilizers only to leave the farmer with a bumper harvest which he cannot handle well. It is time we work to reduce these losses. Post harvest handling also helps in adding value of time and distance which are critical in ensuring that food harvested is well distributed in time to the deserving people. This will help create a pull (gradient) i.e the farmer will have his product bought at the right time, hungry people will have food delivered to them in time and PHL will be minimised.
